Hi everyone!
For the benefit of my readers who are not on Twitter, I wanted to share with you here further proof that most of BTS lyrics are based on their real lives, and that the lyrics we have been analysing are all canon.
I said in A Perfect Christmas Love Story:
As at 15 December 2012 (“middle of December” ), Namjoon was feeling very lonely and did not have a girlfriend. He did not have a girlfriend because: He couldn’t match up to anybody and BTS was debuting soon and K-pop artists are not allowed to date.
Namjoon found it hard to write love song lyrics if he can’t experience love and doesn’t know what love is. Thus, he believes that dating should be encouraged so that they can experience love and write about it.
These lyrics tell us that Namjoon draws on his personal experience to write song lyrics.
However, as we all know, Namjoon proceeded to write many many love songs after 2013 including I NEED U, I Know and of course Trivia ๆฟ: Love.
Thus, Namjoon must have started secretly dating and experiencing love after 15 December 2012 to be able to write the many (high quality and intimate) love songs throughout the years.
The Interviews
The following was said in this interview from 2.34:
Question: Are any of your songs written from personal experience?
Yoongi: Almost all….
Joon: I think… like um… Most of the songs are from our personal experiences… Most of the songs and the lyrics from our songs are really, you know, true, and close to the real life of us.
BTS have already told us many times that they write lyrics based on their experiences and lives – so why wouldn’t Trivia ๆฟ: Love, Serendipity, A Perfect Christmas, I Know, etc not be based on Joon’s real-life love story and experience?
In another interview (thank you @tayteh1!) from 13.10, the following was said:
Question: Who are your Musical Inspirations?
Namjoon: (At the end) Seokjin *cheeky wheeze*
Namjoon told us that his musical inspirations are from Seokjin, so why wouldn’t many of his songs not be about his memories with Jin?
What does this mean for us?
In short, I believe we simply need to continue to read the song lyrics from the perspectives of the authors. ๐ I am sure we are on the right path.

During the Tokopedia jenga interview 2021 Namjoon was asked “Which member is the source of inspiration for RM?” and he answered “I get a lot of inspiration looking at Jin’s hyung face” then Jin replies “right” and Namjoon continues “My music still has to be better. I get inspired to get better every time I see Jin-hyung”.

Namjoon points out(?) that SeokJin one of his inspirations to write Music… This may seem like a timely joke when he takes SeokJin’s name, but remember, in Namjin, nothing is a coincidence ๐

Namjoon often writes Army as aRMy , likes to play with words and itโs consistent with him saying that ARMY made him who he is today.

Why I can’t upload my pic? Jin was asked to give a fairytale: ‘Long long ago, bts and army lived in the galaxy. I was looking at the earth. I, the moon with the earth, lived happy ever after’. He didn’t mention army the earth but emphasised he’s the moon. So guess๐๐

duration 13:10 onwards, pay attention to how V seemed to warn Joon after he mentioned SeokJin? and right then the scene got cut off.

I strongly believe their songs are reflections of their lives and feelings because each are written intricately. I also believe Namjoon is a very emotional person, not emo but sensitive like most artistic people plus he has high expectations and was put as leader of a debuting boy band at a young age. Jin changes along the way and I’m glad he being Joon’s pillar and support all these while, never once stealing his thunder even though he is capable of doing many amazing things himself. I feel they complimented each other well and have a unspoken (maybe spoken) role for each other in public. Its that kind of relationship that draws me to them. I already do not think of their gender at this point. Its a beautiful relationship and I wish them all the happiness.
YES!! It all points to what you have so carefully analysed…these songs are their diaries…a little tweak here and there…. but as they confirmed here…their lives are the core of it all. Man this sure makes it more interesting to listen to the songs and appreciate the poetry of it all….and to get a glimpse into the relationships…especially Namjin.
